In the modern world, many of us are confused about healthy
nutrition as people are ‘bounced’ between different ‘expert’ opinions,
all of which insist that is only one healthy way to eat – and that is
their way.
At Purescapes, although we are fonder of certain approaches,
we do not adhere to a rigid food plan for everyone and we don’t believe
in emotional blackmail. We are keen to help you discover your individual
path and are interested in hearing your own ideas about nutrition. It is up to you to live your life in the right way for you: and that might
not be right for the next person. We believe there is nothing wrong with having
a lust for food and life. So if you are a vegetarian, or a meat lover, we will
make our best effort to satisfy your nutritional needs.
At Purescapes, instead of lecturing you about what’s healthy and what’s
not, we’ll just show you what beautifully fresh, local, seasonal home-cooked
food looks like.
These are the ways of eating we incorporate into our
Purescapes fitness retreat…
One Man’s Food Is Another Man’s Poison...
The Inuit flourished on a diet rich in animal fats yet very
rarely experienced cardiovascular disease. But the mountaineering Swiss sought
out rich dairy and breads to survive glacial winters – while still maintaining
a healthy weight. Man has adapted to and thrived in a wide range of climates
and food availability. Modern man is moving toward a standardized, global diet,
but a diet cannot be one-size-fits-all. Our approach to nutrition allows you to rapidly identify your own highly individualized
dietary needs. Once you do this, you will feel stronger, lighter, calmer and
healthier.
Nutrient-rich raw food…
We believe in the importance of including an element of raw food, which retains
the nutrients and enzymes that are compromised by cooking: but vital to health.
The habits of our ancestors… We embrace
seasonality and regionalism, which does not include modern staples such as processed food, refined sugar and starches.
Vegetarianism... We are also interested in vegetarian ‘days’ for
non-vegetarians and in helping vegetarians to achieve the correct dietary
balance.
